Breast cancer: Arch Bishop Porter Girls SHS shocked as 10 cases identified among students

Students of Arch Bishop Porter Girls Senior High School in the Western Region did not anticipate breast cancer would be among them.

Shock rocked them after ten students were identified with symptoms of the disease during a breast screening exercise in their school.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) organized the screening for the students and staff after a sensitization on the disease.

The identified students were referred to professional medical facilities for further investigations.

The Foundation, after informing school authorities about the cases, urged them to immediately contact the parents of the wards affected for swift action.

A total of Three Hundred and Seventy-three students were screened out of which the affected students were identified with painful breast lumps.

MBCF offers support to patients undergoing treatment to pay for the huge medical bills.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation has visited four regions in the country; Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, and Western Regions while it aims to fight the disease all year round.
