  • Breast Cancer: SHS male student in pain as breast outgrows the other

A 17-year-old student of Ebenezer Senior High School in Accra has been identified with one of his breasts outgrowing the other.

Nurses with Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) learned about the case of the student (name withheld) during a breast cancer campaign in the school.

According to the nurses, the deformity is a sign of breast cancer but the victim was shying away from disclosing the pain he was going through due to stigmatization.

The Foundation had gone to the school with its nurses to conduct breast cancer screening and sensitization in the school.

Out of the over two thousand school population, 315 students and staff underwent the exercise.

A total of four cases; 3 females and one male student whose case was severe amongst them were recorded.

They have been referred to a medical facility for further investigations to confirm or otherwise their status of breast cancer.

MBCF’s visit to the school brings to 14 the number of educational institutions attended to.

The Foundation pays the cost of treatment of identified breast cancer victims under its initiative.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 2022 on the vision of Amina Oppong Kwarteng, the late wife of its Executive Director, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng who also leads Crime Check Foundation (CCF).
